I Hate PHP - Beginner’s Guide to PHP

August 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Ebooks and Magazines, Web Design

This book is for the lonely people who can’t get a da…hold on…wrong book…”I Hate PHP” is for webmasters and designers who have always wondered what PHP could do for them; someone who wants to “do” some PHP and not outsource it. It is best to be familiar with HTML and writing / deciphering HTML code. You don’t need to be a top-notch “I do it all in Notepad” kinda person - just being able to open up a text editor and understand the code is enough. Copy / Paste knowledge is helpful too.

Use Pre-made or Custom Design Template

August 4th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Misc, Web Design, Web Technologies

If you’re a website owner, web developer or just a company looking to make your web presence more noticeable then you might be considering buying a template. You could go out on a limb and get a custom one. Pre-made templates work great, although there are much more opportunities with a custom template.

Depending on what you need the template for, if you are just making a persona site or maybe a mini site then having a pre-made template is not that bad. You can always edit the images and even colors. Some pre-made templates have already been search engine optimized as well, that’s always a plus if you looking to gain ranking in the search engines. Yet with all of the availability you still don’t have the flexibility you could have.

Custom templates can be acquired from freelance designer or maybe even a studio if you have a bigger budget. You can get quality and flexibility that you’re looking for from both, which one you choose matters very little as long as you’re comfortable with them. It’s important to tell your designer exactly what you want before he/she starts, doing so will avoid extra charges and/or wasting time. Always remember to ask for the original design files after completion.
